Later in the debate, when pressed again on the incident, Polis claimed: “I never did anything wrong.”
“It is indisputable Congressman Polis pushed a woman into a filing cabinet and there is no excuse for this type of behavior,” said Walker. “As a father to two daughters and husband to my wife Jenna, I can never imagine putting my hands on a woman. Resorting to physical violence against a woman is never acceptable.”
Last night following the debate, State Representative Polly Lawrence released the below statement:
“When given an opportunity tonight to apologize for how he handled a workplace dispute with violence, Congressman Polis did not admit he was wrong,” said State Representative Polly Lawrence. “As a business owner and a woman, I can tell you, there is never a good excuse to become physical with a woman or any employee for that matter.
“Congressman Polis can try to dismiss this as a partisan attack all he wants, but that does not change what happened. He admitted to police that he pushed a female subordinate that resulted in bruising, and now he refuses to take any responsibility. This is not acceptable, and there should be no equivocating on that fact.”
