Denver, CO – Today, Walker Stapleton will debate Congressman Polis in Pueblo and highlight how Polis’ energy plan, which Governor Hickenlooper called “pretty radical,” will hurt hardworking Pueblo residents.
The Energy Information Administration released a report last month that found “nearly a third of U.S. households have trouble paying their energy bills.” But Congressman Polis’ 100% renewable energy plan will increase utility bills and make it even harder for hardworking Coloradans to get by.
According to a Center for Data Analysis report, a renewable energy standard would “raise electricity prices by 36 percent for households.” And the Pueblo Chieftain reported last month that heating costs are expected to drop 6% to 8% as a result of the federal tax cuts, but Congressman Polis introduced legislation in Congress to repeal the tax cuts.
“Governor Hickenlooper and I both agree, Congressman Polis’ energy plan is pretty radical,” said Walker. “At a time when Pueblo residents are already struggling to pay their energy bills, Congressman Polis’ radical agenda will make it even harder for Coloradans to afford their utility bills. Congressman Polis owes it to Pueblo voters tonight to explain why he is pushing an extremist plan that will increase their cost of living.”FacebookTwitterGoogle +
