Walker Stapleton’s roots run deep in Colorado. The Stapletons have been leaders in the Denver area for decades, and Walker continues a proud family tradition of community leadership. Walker is an active real estate investor in Colorado and has made investments in land, retail and residential real estate throughout the state. He also is president and CEO of SonomaWest Holdings, a small publicly traded real estate company.

Walker serves on the board of The Denver Public Library Friends Foundation, as well as The Tipitina’s Foundation in New Orleans, which provides the city’s public schools with musical instruments and raises awareness about New Orleans music heritage. Walker also is a partner in Social Venture Partners’ Denver Chapter, where he and his wife Jenna help nonprofit organizations like Open World Learning, an after-school education program.

Walker’s commitment to Colorado likewise runs deep. Walker, Jenna and their 1-year-old son, Craig, live in Arapahoe County. Jenna has her masters in social work from the University of Denver and is working toward her license in marriage and family therapy from The Denver Family Institute.

Walker graduated from Williams College in Massachusetts, and he holds a graduate degree in Business Economics from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Harvard. Through his education and successful business career, Walker believes in the private sector’s ability to create jobs and economic growth. Walker understands the need to be fiscally conservative with our taxpayer money in these uncertain economic times, and he believes without a doubt that the citizens of Colorado should have the fundamental right to vote on any proposed tax increase by our state government.

These principles need a champion in the State Treasurer's Office, and Walker's commitment to Colorado includes a pledge to the state's taxpayers to be that champion. Because of his dedication to family, community and limited government, Walker will be a tireless advocate for Colorado’s taxpayers and a strong State Treasurer.
